Nissan has always emphasized the Maxima's performance features. The traditional 6-cylinder engine is set up in the standard front wheel drive configuration. This puts weight over the drive wheels and improves grip on slippery roads. Only one engine and transmission powertrain are currently offered, but it works well at every trim level.
